  • New York City has earned the moniker "Capital of the World," and it's not without reason. Boasting a population of over 8 million residents, NYC stands as one of the most influential commercial and financial metropolises on our planet. Yet, beneath this magnificent and powerful image lies a question: Could New York become a modern-day Atlantis?
When the first settlers arrived on what we now know as Manhattan, there were no highways or skyscrapers. The entire bay of New York resembled a colossal wetland, often likened to the Garden of Eden. Since those early days, and especially since the late 19th century, New York's bay has undergone profound transformations. This once-Eden on Earth rapidly evolved into an ever-expanding concrete jungle.
While these developments have solidified New York's pivotal role in our globalized world, they have come at a significant cost. The replacement of wetlands with concrete has rendered the city increasingly vulnerable to floods. As global warming ushers in rising sea levels and more powerful, destructive storms, it's plausible that in a couple of decades, this megalopolis could find itself submerged beneath the waves.

Your thumbnail reminded me of the band Supertramp and the cover of their "Breakfast in America" album. A true classic.

I lived in Manhattan with my cat, and we often woke up underwater. I lived on the 32nd floor!🙀. Now I still live in New York, but the water only comes up to my ankles. My kitty is much happier.
    😺👈see, happy kitty

I couldn't live in such a big city, to much noise, light's, and crime. I grew up in the country, and that's where i prefer to live closer to nature, and the silence.
    G-d bless.
